The mortar measures 3.75 inches in diameter and is ~2.5 tall inches . The pestle measures ~4.5 inches long.

A mortar and pestle is used to grind and crush ingredients such as spices or herbs. This Granite set has a larger capacity than our Green Onyx mortar. Its interior has an unpolished finish ideal to finely grind herbs, while its exterior is polished for easy handling.

From the alchemy student's prospective, you will want a stone/crystal mortar as well as a wooden one. Certain preparations will require you keep the stone & plant kingdoms separate.
